What is a typical photoshoot like?Depending on your comfort level, we’ll start with some conservative poses in a conservative outfit, like a cute sweater or t-shirt. I typically save your favorite outfit for later in the session. After the first few shots, I’ll show you the previews on my camera screen so you can see how great you look. We’ll flow through a few common poses, but I’m not the kind of photographer who sticks to a rigid list of poses and tries to apply them to everyone. Instead, I have a baseline set of great poses in mind that I tailor to your unique style and attributes. I may call it “posing,” but it’s more relaxed than that. I’ll coach you through natural movements and photograph the right moment for a natural and confident aesthetic. See my step-by-step guide here. .
-
What do I wear?In general, it’s all about what you feel good in, so there aren’t any “rules” for what to wear for a boudoir photoshoot. I typically recommend a mix of styles/colors with a range of exposure consistent with your comfort level. A good start can include cute pajamas, a bodysuit, a 2-piece set (or more, if you want to include garter/stockings), and a wildcard (something daring you want to try!). Some clients bring a man’s shirt, coat, or tie. We can also work with strategically-placed sheets for coverage. I typically do not recommend “babydoll” style lingerie (i.e. the bra top with flowy mid-section) or attire with text/branding unless it’s a sports jersey. I always recommend new or nearly new attire (frays show up easily). Plan to cut off all the tags (including the “permanent” tags).
-
What happens when I arrive? You’ll meet your professional hair and makeup artist at the studio, where you’ll get to sit and relax while they style you consistent with your preferences. I usually have a cute welcome sign and some of your favorite candy. Having hair and makeup done at the studio is a great way to decompress before the photoshoot.
-
Why don’t you show before and after photos? There’s nothing wrong with before-and-after photos—but let’s be real: this experience goes beyond everyday life. I’m not here to show “improvement,” but to reflect your true self, just a little amplified. Focus on your stunning final images instead of comparing versions of yourself.

What is boudoir photography?Boudoir photography is a style of intimate portraiture that documents individuals in a sensual, elegant, and affirming way. Rooted in the French word boudoir—used to describe a private dressing room or bedroom—this art form evokes a sense of personal space, self-expression, and self-celebration. Sessions typically take place in a studio or styled environment designed to feel luxurious and comfortable, though they can also unfold in a home or meaningful location. Clients may wear lingerie, robes, or other outfits that reflect their personality and comfort level. Sometimes, the simplest elements—like soft bedsheets or delicate fabrics—create the most striking images. The aim is not only to produce beautiful, tasteful portraits, but to help the person being photographed feel seen, celebrated, and radiant. People often book boudoir sessions for occasions like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, bachelorette parties, pregnancy, or to mark personal milestones—celebrating fitness goals, healing after a breakup, or rediscovering confidence after a major life change. But more and more, people choose boudoir simply for themselves: to honor their journey, to embrace their beauty, and to reconnect with their strength. Even when the shoot begins as a gift for someone else, many discover the most lasting impact is the confidence and self-assurance they gain from seeing themselves in a bold and beautiful new light. Or, you can book a boudoir photoshoot simply to indulge in a day of luxury!

Do you photograph couples in a boudoir setting? Not currently. Although couples photoshoots can be beautiful and inspiring, my photos are focused on the individual and self-appreciation, rather than documenting romantic encounters.
-
Are my photos kept private?Yes! Your privacy and comfort are paramount. I don’t share images on my website or in social media without express written permission. I use password-protected databases. I get it- I'm normally a private person and I respect your privacy, too! Of course, I'm grateful and honored when clients agree to allow me to use their images in my promotional materials. It's an even bigger compliment when I see clients sharing their images!
-
Do I need professional hair and makeup?Professional hair and/or makeup is not required (you can do it yourself), but it is highly recommended for the best experience in pampering, and for the best look in your photos.
-
Why would I want to have boudoir photos?Any reason is a good reason. Boudoir is about celebrating you—exactly where you are in your journey. Some clients come to mark a milestone like a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or motherhood. Others celebrate a personal victory—like achieving a fitness goal, embracing their body after surgery or illness, or reclaiming confidence after a breakup or divorce. You might do it as a gift for someone else—or simply as a gift to yourself. It can be empowering, healing, luxurious, fun, or all of the above. Whether it’s on your bucket list, a celebration of womanhood, or just a chance to see yourself in a bold new light, boudoir is about honoring your story. My goal as your photographer is to inspire confidence, affirm your self-worth, and create artwork that reminds you: you are powerful, beautiful, and worthy.

Are you available to photograph a bachelorette party or other gathering?Yes! A boudoir photoshoot at your bachelorette party is an amazing way to celebrate and have some fun with friends. We can meet at a studio, but you'll probably find it more fun to have mini-sessions on-location at your vacation rental or hotel room. Depending on the size of the party, I can include a special print gift for the bride, complementary. Contact me to arrange a group rate.

After hair and makeup, then what? One of the great things about getting hair and makeup done at the studio is that it helps my clients relax and feel confident before the photoshoot even starts. After hair and makeup, we’ll go into the studio where I’ll explain some basic posing tips and tricks. Don’t worry if you can’t remember them. It’s just an introduction, and I’ll remind you throughout the shoot. We’ll check out the outfits you brought so I can plan and manage time during the photoshoot.
-
How much should I budget?I put my heart, soul, and time into delivering the best art possible with some of the finest camera equipment. The very basic experience is $250, and I offer packages including printed albums for up to $1850. Contact me to let me know what you’re looking for and I’ll share my current pricing guide. This is a luxury experience.
-
Do you edit photos?Yes, I use modern digital editing tools to tastefully minimize or conceal unwanted blemishes while staying realistic and true to you. I do not edit to change a person’s shape or proportions. I do photograph to flatter a person’s natural shape and proportion. I am proud of my signature natural and realistic style that highlights your inner and outer beauty.

Why would I want to work with a male photographer? It’s a question I welcome—and one I take seriously. While being a male photographer in a space often associated with women might set me apart, I don’t approach boudoir from a “male” perspective—I approach it from a human perspective, and from the perspective of someone who has been both behind and in front of the camera. I ask: How does my client want to feel? How do they want to see themselves? My goal is to create images that reflect their vision, not mine—portraits that honor their story, their beauty, and their power. I’m proud to photograph from a perspective of genuine appreciation, compassion, affirmation, support, and empathy, not of objectification. I respect and honor that boudoir can feel like a vulnerable experience. As a male, I take extra care to earn and keep your trust, respecting your own unique and inspiring story and your goals for the photoshoot. Check out my reviews, or ask me to refer you to someone I’ve worked with before. Clients often tell me they were nervous at first, but that they ultimately felt completely comfortable. That shift from apprehension to confidence is part of the boudoir portrait experience, regardless of who your photographer is, and it shows in the magic of your images. Hiring a male photographer has advantages, too. Some clients find that working with a male photographer reduces the tendency to compare themselves to another woman behind the lens. This can create a more relaxed, judgment-free space where the focus is entirely on their own beauty and story. If the photos are meant to be a gift, working with a male photographer can help affirm that the images are not only tasteful and empowering, but also flattering from a male point of view—blending my perspective with yours to create gorgeous artwork.

Where are your portrait sessions?I photograph clients in gorgeous studios around the Phoenix valley area. When we book your session, we’ll select a good location with the right vibe. I occasionally photograph at cute short term rental homes (e.g., for bachelorette parties). Given the nature of boudoir photography, I rarely photograph outdoors, but we can talk about that if you have something specific in mind.
-
What do I do the night/morning before?Moisturize, hydrate, and get lots of rest so you can feel your best. If you are meeting the hair and makeup artist(s) at the studio, plan to arrive at the studio with clean dry hair and no makeup. Wear loose clothes (no tight straps) to avoid skin indentations. Bring those gorgeous outfits you picked out!
-
Can I bring a friend or partner? You are welcome to bring a non-romantic friend for support, but most of my clients fly solo for their session. It can get crowded in the studio with three people, my equipment, and your outfits. I do not allow significant others (spouses) or minors in the studio during the session. Most clients feel their most confident without another person.
-
What sets Arcadia Boudoir apart from other boudoir photographers?Every session is thoughtfully tailored to reflect your individuality—never guided by a formula. From our first conversation to the final edits, I’m dedicated to crafting elegant, meaningful artwork that is unmistakably yours.
-
How long is a boudoir photoshoot?A typical experience includes begins with one or two hours of hair and makeup, followed by at least an hour of photography. I recommend two hours of photography for a slower-paced experience and more photographic variety. I occasionally offer shorter sessions.
-
How far in advance should I schedule? If you have no deadlines, schedule when you’re ready. I typically schedule at least 3 weeks in advance, depending on the season. If you’re in a rush, let me know, and I’ll see if I can accommodate you. If you have a specific deadline (birthday, wedding, anniversary, etc.), know that it can be between 3 and 6 weeks to receive final images or print products, depending on the season, the type of product, and how quickly you review your proofs.
-
Do I need to be a model or have experience being photographed?Absolutely not! Boudoir is for every woman. For most of my clients, it’s their first time. It’s my job to prove that you are photogenic and to help you feel like a professional model. You don’t have to know how to “be sexy.” I coach you through the right poses, movements, and expressions that amplify your individual sensuality.
